Description
At the Ukrainian embassy in The Hague, AFP interview Anton Korynevych, Ukraine's top lawyer at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). He is part of a team of Ukrainian lawyers who - just days into Russia's brutal invasion of Ukraine - huddled together on a train out of Kyiv to craft a case to present to the ICJ. They argue that President Vladimir Putin abused the UN Genocide Convention by using an alleged genocide in eastern Ukraine as pretext for invasion. "Of course, the main battlefield is on the ground, and we will win due to our heroic Ukraine's armed forces. But we understood also that we, as government lawyers, we need to do our job and we need to pursue justice", says Korynevych. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
