Description
On the south coast of England, the Towner Eastbourne art gallery opens an exhibition dedicated to the four finalists of the 2023 Turner Prize. This prestigious prize, first organised 1984, rewards a British artist each year for his or her work. This year, Jesse Darling, Ghislaine Leung, Rory Pilgrim and Barbara Walker are all nominated. Despite using very different approaches and materials, "there are some common concerns" between them, says Ben Burbridge, Professor of Art History at the University of Sussex and official educational partner of the Turner Prize 2023. Their work "has a lot to do with the precarity, the fragility, sometimes the absence of political and social structures to support people" he explains. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
