After a record-breaking summer, September was the hottest month in France's history, marking the continuation of a run of almost two years above seasonal averages. Patrick Galois, a forecaster at Météo France, explains this record as the result of a "combination of two phenomena": global warming combined with "anticyclonic sequences with masses of warm air from southern Europe".
