From east to west, Canada experienced a historic fire season that struck hardest in Quebec, the country's worst-hit province, forcing many residents to leave everything behind. "Fire was everywhere," recalls the mayor of the small town of Lebel-sur-Quévillon, which had to be evacuated twice under the relentless pressure of the blaze.
