Description
Refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh who are being housed at a holiday resort north of Yerevan in central Armenia say they are still in shock and are struggling to adjust after fleeing their homes. "My nine-year-old son says let's go back to Stepanakert and live in a (military) blockade without any sweets or any food but at least in our home," says Narine Mkrtchyan. Some 100,000 people fled Nagorno-Karabakh for Armenia after Azerbaijan's lightning offensive on the rebel enclave. Many are struggling to find accommodation in Armenia and have been sleeping in their cars since arriving. "At this point they don't have a roof over their head," says Liparit Margaryan, head of the Arzakan community administration.
