Workers at the Zaporizhstal and the ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rig plants are fighting to keep the country's steel industry alive. Since Russia's invasion, they have lost staff, suppliers and access to vital export hubs, threatening a key part of Ukraine's economy. "The east of the country produced slabs" explains Vladislav Tyurin, the plant's senior foreman, referring to the now shut Azovstal plant. "They worked very much on the EU market.
