Description
Increasing tremors have frightened the half a million or so people who live in the red zone around Campi Flegrei, also known as the Phlegraean Fields, a volcanic area west of Naples. Campi Flegrei is about 12-14 kilometres wide, making it the largest active caldera - the hollow left after an eruption - in Europe and stretches from the outskirts of Naples in southern Italy to the coast. Under today's plan, the red zone is divided into segments, each paired with another region ready to receive people in case of evacuation. "I'm not happy about being uprooted from my land and sent to Milan," says a local resident about the plan. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
