Germany's conservative CDU party is leading in the regional elections in Hesse. The SPD, led by Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, came fourth with 15.2 percent of the vote, after the far-right AfD, with 16.8 percent. "The CDU has received a clear mandate from the people to govern," declares Boris Rhein, CDU candidate and Hesse's current State Premier.
