Police are deployed in Rio de Janeiro's favela Mare, as the state government has mobilized a thousand officers in at least three favelas against organized crime. The operation is also targeting two other favelas in the north and west of the city, which are considered strongholds of Comando Vermelho (CV), Rio's largest drug trafficking organization. IMAGES
