Rick Brand browses different strains of marijuana on a laptop in the back room of his coffee shop, "The Baron". Brand's is one of a handful of businesses that will take part in a trial from December selling "legal cannabis" from government-approved suppliers. He believes that bringing the substance -- which isn't technically legal in the Netherlands, just tolerated -- out of the shadows will protect its users. "The cannabis that we are now offering sometimes contains pesticides, some weighting agents, you don't know" he explains, "if we can soon source from legal producers, we can test our products".
