Russian President Vladimir Putin tells his Kyrgyz counterpart Sadyr Japarov that "the positions of Russia and Kyrgyzstan are close or coincide on many issues" as he makes his first trip abroad since the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant against him in March. Putin says that during talks with Sadyr Japarov, both leaders "paid great attention to the issues of expanding" military cooperation.
