A few thousand demonstrators rally under the rain in Washington, DC, at a protest in solidarity with Palestinians in front of the White House. Linda Houghton, among the demonstrators, describes the recent events as "just beyond the pale" while Ahmed Abed says "where is Europe? where is everybody? this is not right". Israel pummelled northern Gaza with fresh air strikes, one week on from Hamas' deadly attack, as it urges Palestinians to flee the area before an expected ground offensive against Hamas commanders.
