Residents of Sderot climb onto buses as authorities evacuate towns in southern Israel close to Gaza that have been targeted in Hamas rocket attacks. "I was supposed to be evacuated last Tuesday, but I didn't want to" says one evacuee as he waits for a bus. "Shrapnel went through my windown, broke the glass and made a hole in the wall" he adds. The evacuations are continuing a week on from the Hamas attack on Israeli settlements, which left more than 1,400 civilians dead, with about 150 more taken hostage by the militant group. 2,300 deaths have been reported in Gaza, where Israeli forces have been bombarding Hamas targets in response to the attack.
