Here a conquering birch is growing among the oaks, and there a young pine from the south is replacing its dying cousins. The Moulière massif in central-western France is the site of the "mosaic forest", a French strategy for dealing with climate change. "Climate change is happening very fast, and the forest's ability to adapt to this speed of change is limited.
