A national navy patrol boat intercepts two pirogues (motorised canoes)carrying illegal migrants. A total of 338 migrants were forcibly returned to the Dakar naval base. The migrants included many young people, as well as women and minors. Migrant arrivals to Senegal have increased in recent months, with thousands of people leaving for the Spanish Canary Islands.
