"We should go out and exercise our right to vote, remembering that from day one the primary has been intended to be a mechanism to reconcile citizens with the exercise of their political rights," says the president of Venezuela's opposition election commission, Jesus Maria Casal. The opposition's primary election will be held on Sunday October 22, days after an announcement that the United States will ease some oil and gas sanctions against Venezuela after the South American country's government and opposition agreed to hold elections next year.
