Description
In New York, soon after the war between Israel and Hamas broke out, posters showing faces of hostages with the word "kidnapped" started to pop up around the world.
Behind them were Israeli artists Nitzan Mintz and Dede Bandaid, who were on a 3-month residence in the city and made their designs available for anyone to download. "It went completely viral the day after it was all over Manhattan (...) and from there it spread to other cities in the US, and from there to Europe to South America to the Far East", Bandaid explains.
The campaign has been controversial for some, and posters are often torn down. "If they want to tear down the posters, we will put more", says Mintz. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
