Armed with artificial technology and initiative platforms assembled by an all-volunteer force cobbled together in just days, Israel’s tech workers have mobilised to lend a hand in the ongoing hostage crisis after Hamas attack on October 7. The tech community’s response to the hostage crisis is a microcosm of the sweeping moblisation across society that has seen people volunteer en masse to support affected families, soldiers and a range of other response efforts in the wake of the October 7th attacks. One of the people kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 is 22-year-old Omer Wenkert, a restaurant manager who was taking part in Tribe of Nova music festival. "I put a big picture of him close to my bed and I look at him and I talk to God to bring him back home", his grandmother, Tsili Wenkert, a Holocaust survivor, told AFP.
