Description
Several hundred people gather in Senegal's capital Dakar to demand the release of "political prisoners" detained during recent unrest. The protest, called by the political and civil society organisation "Mouvement des forces vives du Senegal F24", is one of the few allowed by authorities after the conviction of opposition politician Ousmane Sonko resulted in deadly clashes in June. Demonstrators chant "free Sonko," "free the hostages," and "down with dictatorship," with some carrying Russian flags and sounding whistles, horns and vuvuzelas. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
