Hurricane Otis, which devastated Acapulco and isolated the famous seaside resort in western Mexico, has left residents desperately searching for a network to reassure their families that they're alive. Electricity and other utilities have been partially cut off for the city's some 780,000 residents after the scale--topping Category 5 hurricane smashed into the city with winds of 165 miles (270 kilometers) per hour.
