Description
Drone footage captured last week in the Westfjords region in north-eastern Iceland shows salmons in a pen infected by fish lice, with large chunks of their flesh missing, some floating dead. Environmental activists like Veiga Grétarsdóttir, author of the videos, believe that around one million fish are infected. "We have never seen anything like this before", she says, warning "the risk is really big" to the ecosystem.
In her footage, a ship described as Hordafor III is seen operating, sent from Norway to euthanise and pump the fishes. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES - NO SOUND ON AERIAL SHOTS
