Description
India's top court on Tuesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's federal and three regional governments over Delhi's toxic air pollution as it demanded an end to the crisis. The Indian capital, home to 30 million people, is blanketed in acrid smog every autumn, primarily blamed on stubble burning by farmers in the neighbouring regions. The city is regularly ranked as one of the most polluted on the planet, with its smog blamed for hundreds of thousands of premature deaths each year. IMAGES
