Description
Rising temperatures in the Baltic Sea are threatening to decimate both its herring population and the fortunes of the Finnish fishermen who rely on the species. In the Nordic country, where Baltic herring makes up approximately 80 percent of the annual catch, many fear the EU's attempts to safeguard marine life in one of the world's most polluted seas might see the herring trawlers mothballed for good. "The identity of fishermen in other countries should be respected," Holger Sjogren, a fifth-generation fisherman tells AFP. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
