Description
As Kosovo braces to play Israel in a European Championship qualifier on Sunday -- rescheduled from last month because of the war with Hamas -- Pristina police are on alert after a series of social media posts calling for the game to be cancelled. The predominantly Muslim country considers itself to be among the most pro-American countries in the world and usually firmly goes along with its most important ally’s foreign policy. However, after dozens of messages criticising Israel's military campaign in Gaza began to circle on social media under the hashtag in English #BabyKillersAreNotWelcomedHere, Kosovo police told local media that they have been "undertaking security measures" so that the game "goes as smoothly as other sport events".
