Val Thorens in French Savoie, Europe's highest ski resort, pre-opens part of its ski area this weekend. "It's time to enjoy skiing", enthuses Vincent Lecluyse, who has come from the Var with two friends. "Everyone is waiting for this," agrees Heidi Gallay, from La Clusaz ski resort (Hautes-Alpes) where the pre-opening of the slopes won't begin until December.
