Delegates gather for the third and final session of the Intergovernmental Committee (INC) dedicated to finding concrete global measures against the proliferation of plastic waste. Last year, some 175 countries agreed to finalise the first global treaty tackling the issue by the end of 2024. With the committee set to close later in the day, the head of the Greenpeace delegation, Graham Forbes, says "what we've seen here is a lot of circular talk" and urges "the United States and other members from the high ambition coalition to step up and show leadership so that we can get a treaty".
