When he came to power, Felix Tshisekedi promised to improve the daily lives of the Congolese people. In January 2019, "The people first", his party's slogan, was presented as the programme for the five-year term. "The head of state is indebted to us. He didn't really fulfil his promise," says Victor Mukala, a farmer in Kwilu. The Democratic Republic of Congo has 80 million hectares of arable land and a subsoil rich in minerals.
