Description
Levi Salomon, equipped with his camera and bullet-proof jacket, observes a Berlin march in support of Palestinians in Gaza. For 25 years he has been documenting anti-Semitic slogans and acts at rallies in Berlin, but he says he had never experienced such virulent expressions of hate against Jews in post-war Germany until October 7, when Hamas gunmen stormed across the border from Gaza into Israel, killing 1,200 people, mostly civilians. Israel's retaliatory ground and air operation has killed almost 15,000 people in Gaza, mostly civilians, according to the territory's Hamas government. "Not one of them... condemns Hamas. I find that both disturbing and it leaves me speechless," Salomon says of the Berlin marchers. But Udi Raz, from the Jewish Voice for Just Peace in the Middle East, says he attends the pro-Palestinian demos clearly stating that he is Jewish and Israeli. "If I would feel uncomfortable in such a space, I would not position myself publicly, neither as Jewish nor as an Israeli person." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
