China on Thursday responded to comments by Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen saying that China is not likely to consider a major invasion of the island for now due to domestic challenges.
"As Taiwan is an inseparable part of China's territory, there is no President of Taiwan," said foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin, adding that "the Democratic Progressive Party authorities' stubborn stance on Taiwan independence and their continuous provocations for independence are only doomed to fail".
