"I think this is kind of a clash between the Swedish or the European culture and the American way to make business," says Marie Nilsson, head of the IF Metall union behind an ongoing strike against Tesla in Sweden. The electric carmaker is currently facing strikes in the Nordic country over its refusal to sign a collective wage agreement for its mechanics. Musk has long rejected calls to allow the company's 127,000 employees worldwide to unionise, but collective agreements with unions are the basis of the Swedish labour market model.
