Israel and Hamas brushed off international calls to renew an expired truce on Saturday with resumed strikes pounding militant targets in Gaza and Palestinian groups launching volleys of rockets the other way. The recently expired truce was the first pause in fighting since October 7, when a deadly Hamas attacked on Israel killed 1,200 people and saw another 240 taken hostage. In Gaza, the Hamas-run health ministry says Israel's response -- a relentless air and ground offensive -- has killed more than 15,000 people. IMAGES
