German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva say that they are both confident that a long-negotiated trade deal between the European Union and the South American Mercosur bloc will finally be clinched. Scholz tells a press conference in Berlin that he is "convinced that a majority will be found in favour of such an agreement".
