As snow blankets much of the northern Chernigiv region, a group of Ukrainian servicemen clad in winter camouflage outfits are put through their paces in drills teaching them how to identify and repel Russian saboteurs. Chernigiv, along with the neighbouring Sumy region, is often faced with the threat of sabotage groups coming over onto Kyiv's land from over the border with Russia. "Last week there were three attempts by sabotage groups to penetrate our defences," Kyiv's joint forces commander Sergiy Nayev tells AFP, adding that "in two cases they suffered losses and returned to their territory."
