Short profile of South African afro-pop singer Zahara, who has died at the age of 36, after being admitted to a Johannesburg hospital last month. Born Bulelwa Mkutukana to a poor family, Zahara became known for her trademark guitar and giant Afro hairstyle. She burst on to the music scene in 2011 after her debut album Loliwe sold out in 72 hours. No cause of death has been given but her manager revealed in 2019 that she was battling liver disease.
