Israel and the United States "will never be able to eliminate Hamas", Iranian Foreign Minister says Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, warning that the situation in the Gaza Strip could lead to "an unforeseeable and uncontrollable explosion" of violence in the region. Speaking at the end of a two-day event in Geneva marking the 75th anniversary since the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Amir-Abdollahian adds that Iran has "repeatedly announced that if the war does not stop, the possibility of expansion of the scope of the war will increase every second." His comments come as Israel presses on with its bombardment of Gaza, more than two months after Hamas's October 7 attacks killed 1,200 people inside Israel and saw around 240 people taken hostage, according to Israeli figures.
