Description
Russian opposition politician Ilya Yashin, currently serving a sentence of 8 and a half years for spreading "false information" about Russia's army, re-appeals his conviction in a Moscow court. Speaking at the hearing, Yashin reasserts that he was put behind bars for his "opinion and anti-war beliefs", while his mother tells AFP that the courts "do not take into account any arguments at all". The Kremlin critic lost a previous appeal in April. He has been locked up since December 2022 in what his supporters say was a politically motivated decision. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
