Description
The timetable initially planned for the privatisation of Portugal's state-owned national carrier TAP Air is likely to be delayed by the country's political crisis, according to the airline's CEO Luis Rodrigues. The Portuguese Socialist Party began on Friday selecting a successor to Prime Minister Antonio Costa, whose resignation over a corruption scandal has triggered an early election. TAP Air CEO Luis Rodrigues says: "Privatisation is possible in 2024, but it will be difficult. The timetable seems complicated. We won't have a new government until the end of April-May, and on top of that we have the summer season to manage." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
