Description
Many Serbs from Kosovo travelled to Serbia to vote in the snap parliamentary elections, and they appear to be rallying behind Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and his Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).
Serbia did not recognise the independence proclaimed in 2008 by its former province of Kosovo, which is largely populated by ethnic Albanians. Belgrade, which is negotiating its accession to the European Union, is under pressure from Western powers to recognise Kosovo, but the government in Belgrade firmly rejects this. Some 120,000 Serbs live in Kosovo, which has a population of 1.8 million. The Kosovo government no longer allows Serbs to vote in Kosovo for Serbian elections, and they travel to Serbian towns close to the border to vote. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
