In Spain's Illa de Arousa, Galicia, shellfish catchers are busy as Christmas approaches. But the holiday campaign is "becoming a total fiasco", says Carmen Suarez, as the traditional seafood fishing sector falls victim to climate change and struggles with massive shellfish mortality. "The warming of the air, the warming of the water and pollution are directly influencing the seafood to be weaker, to grow less" adds Sandra Amezaga, secretary of the Mulleres Salgadas association.
