Description
A dozen women in white headscarves who are the wives, mothers and partners of mobilised Russian soldiers lay flowers at the tomb of the unknown soldier in Alexander Garden, near the Kremlin. By doing so, they aim to honour the memory of Russian soldiers who died in Ukraine but also express their wish to see their soldiers return home from Ukraine. After Putin announced a mobilisation drive in September 2022, a record number of Russians -- nearly 70 percent -- reported feeling "anxious", the Kremlin-friendly pollster FOM said. "Some want it to end, some want our victory. But most importantly, they all want to bring the boys home." says Paulina, wife of a mobilised soldier
