Supporters of jailed nationalist turned critic, Igor Girkin, also known by the alias Igor Strelkov, the former top military commander of the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic" attend a conference in Moscow in support of his candidacy in the upcoming presidential elections to be held in Russia in March 2024. People come here motivated by a "heightened sense of justice and a sense of indignation at what is happening in the country," says attendee Roman Shulegin.
