Description
At the National Museum of Ukrainian Architecture and Folklore in Kyiv, singers celebrate Ukrainian Christmas traditions, by making the world's largest didukh, a Ukrainian Christmas decoration made from wheat stalks and which was banned during the Soviet Union. "Didukh is a purely Ukrainian Christmas tradition. Let's face it, the whole communist regime has always fought against our cherished Ukrainian traditions and destroyed them. I think it's very important to restore them, especially during this war," says Yaroslav Kuchma. Ukraine prepares to celebrate Christmas on December 25 for the first time, after the government changed the date from the Orthodox Church observance of January 7 in a snub to Russia.
