Members of different social organisations and activists from Mexico City begin a pilgrimage to Chiapas to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the pro-indigenous, anti-capitalist Zapatista uprising. "For me it is important to support this struggle because it represents dignity" says one activist, Moises Perada. On the night of January 1, 1994, armed commandos from the EZLN seized several towns in Chiapas, including San Cristobal de las Casas, prompting a military operation and a 12-day ceasefire.
