Description
Ikram Cakir hands over a blue and white blouse before selecting a similar item, this time in hot pink, an exchange made at Amsterdam's "fashion library". Billed as one of the world's only physical centres for renting used and new clothing, the "big shared wardrobe" in the Dutch capital, packed with trousers, coats and overalls, is a response to clothes waste and fashion industry pollution. "The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world," says Elisa Jansen, the library's co-founder, "we cannot continue to consume and produce in the same way."
