Description
A statue of South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu wearing a Palestinian scarf is unveiled in Cape Town to symbolise his decades-long work championing justice for Palestinians.”We wanted to do was display the solidarity that the Arch (Archbishop) showed when he was alive, through bringing out his statue every day, wrapping the kefiyyeh (Palestinian scarf) around him and doing that until the bombing stops,” says Janet Jobson, the head of the Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation. The country has cut off diplomatic ties with Israel over its response to the deadly October 7 Hamas attacks. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
