Supporters of Taiwan's ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) gather as candidate Lai Ching-te takes a clear lead in the vote count after Saturday's election, according to partial results. With results counted from more than 60 percent of polling stations, Lai was on 41.6 percent of the vote, according to figures from the Central Election Commission, well ahead of his nearest rival Hou Yu-ih of the opposition Kuomintang, on 33.2 percent.
