Description
"It's going to be very big, a very important moment in Danish history" says 35-year-old Renée Jense, a Copenhagen resident who arrived in Christianborg Square early to get a good spot to see the proclamation of Denmark's new King. He is one of 100,000 Danes expected to turn out to witness the unprecedented event, in which Queen Margrethe II will sign a declaration of abdication, ending her 52-year reign, before her eldest son is automatically proclaimed King Frederik X. "It's just exciting that an ordinary person like us will become a queen" says Judy Langtree, who has travelled to Denmark from Australia to watch Frederik and his Australian-born wife, Mary, become queen.
