Description
A volcanic eruption that has engulfed homes in an Icelandic fishing port may last "for years" and possibly "engulf the town", an expert warns. Glowing lava has already swallowed up several homes on Sunday at the edge of the town of Grindavik, southwest of the capital Reykjavik. The eruption, which has forced Grindavik's evacuation, has "been ongoing for about two months and it is likely that this will go on substantially longer," Geophysics professor Magnús Tumi Guðmundsson tells AFP via video call.
