Taiwan's TSMC will formally open its new chipmaking foundry in Japan's Kyushu island on February 24, its chairman said Thursday.
"We will hold an opening ceremony for this fab (fabrication foundry) on February 24 this month, and volume production is on track for fourth quarter of 2024," said TSMC chairman Mark Liu, who will be retiring from the company later this year.
