Description
Daily homicides in Ecuador have dropped from 27 to 11 since military forces were deployed to the streets two weeks ago to stop an onslaught by drug gangs, General Police Commander Cesar Zapata says during a conference in Quito. "Regarding the high-value target known as alias Fito, we are getting closer and surely he is feeling it," adds Ecuadorian Armed Forces Admiral Jaime Vela.
President Daniel Noboa deployed military forces and imposed a 60-day nighttime curfew following the escape from prison of prominent drug lord Adolfo Macias, alias Fito. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
